The Transactions of the Society were exchanged for the journals of a large number of other societies and research institutions. This has enabled the Society to build up a large reference library consisting of over 1,000 titles which may be used by both members and non-members.
It is normally open to members by arrangement. Members and non-members can borrow books through the Commonwealth Inter-Library Loan System.
The Society Library is accessible, by prior appointment, to the public. The collection began in the mid to late 1800s and is scientific journals collected over the years as part of the exchange system with other Societies. This system ended in 2007.
